Tafsir of the Qur’an – Cancelled Due to Covid 19

Join us for our monthly sessions with Imam Kemal Cecunjanin where we will go over tafsir of the Quran, starting off with Surah Waqiah at 7pm this Friday. Following that, brothers will have their halaqah with Imam Kemal covering Imam Abdullah al-Haddad’s “Mutual Reminding.” Sister’s halaqah will cover “The 40 Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi’.” Food will be provided in between inshaAllah. After sessions are over we will have a social hour with board games and other fun activities.

Structure for the Evening:
1st session: 7pm-8:15pm
* Tafsir of Qur’an with Imam Kemal.
* In the Main Prayer section
* Last 10-15 min Q&A
Intermission: 8:15pm-8:45pm
* Prayer break
* Food: Pizza, fruits and snacks/sweets
2nd session: 8:45pm-10pm
* Brothers youth halaqah session with Imam Kemal upstairs in private classroom.
* Sisters youth halaqah session covering “The 40 Hadith of Imam An-Nawawi’.”
Social Hour: 10pm-12am
*After sessions are over we will have a social hour with board games and other activities.
Biography of the Imam:
Imam Kemal Cecunjanin was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to immigrant parents from Plav, Montenegro. In 1999, at age 19, he performed the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. He then dedicated 10 years to studying the Arabic language and traditional Islam with prominent scholars in Yemen, Jordan, and Syria. In 2016, Kemal entered Yale University as an Eli Whitney Scholar, where he completed his BA in Near Eastern Languages.
Imam Kemal currently serves as the Muslim Chaplain at Fairfield University. He is Imam of the Monroe (Conn.) Masjid, where he is also a lecturer for the Islamic Community of Fairfield County. Kemal teaches Arabic and Islamic Studies at the M.E.C.C.A. Center in New York City and is a frequent guest lecturer throughout New York and Connecticut on topics relating to Islamic ethics and culture
